Training in project budgeting together with change agents

On February 16, 2023, the second part of the interactive training for the academic staff of the V. Stefanyk Precarpathian National University “KEY Elements of Project Application Formation” was held by the team of the Project and Educational Center “Agents of Change” of PNU on the topic “Project Budget Structure and Consideration of Project Implementation Risks”.

At the beginning of the training, Svitlana Kropelnytska, Director of the Center “Agents of Change”, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of planning financial flows and understanding the risks of project implementation.

The main speakers of the training were specialists of the Center “Agents of Change” of the PNU, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance Tetiana Myhovych and Tetiana Solodzhuk. They spoke about the project implementation plan, characterized the essence and main items of budget expenditures, described the risks and the basis for developing a strategy to minimize them, and drew attention to the need to keep all supporting documents for the preparation of narrative and financial statements.

The training was held in the usual interactive, practice-oriented format. The participants continued to work in pre-formed teams that included representatives of different specialties. This time, however, they worked together on the budget based on the initial conditions proposed by the trainers. Svitlana Kropelnytska also helped the participants navigate the details of filling out the standard budget form.

“Planning the project, identifying the necessary resources, describing products and results, taking into account the details when developing the budget, identifying risks and opportunities to avoid them requires care and accuracy. And although these processes are more routine than brainstorming when formulating a project idea, they are important for a high-quality project proposal,” said Tetyana SOLODZHUK.

“Budgeting is a process that takes into account all types of costs to achieve the project goal, so for a grantor to make a positive decision on funding a project, everything must be interconnected – the idea, tasks, activities and results of the project,” said Tetyana Myhovych.

The participants of the training thanked the trainers for their work and expressed their desire to continue to participate in similar trainings from the team of the Project and Educational Center “Agents of Change” of PNU.
